Lisa Hogarty Named Vice President of Campus Planning and Facilities

Lisa Hogarty, who previously served as vice president of campus services at Harvard University, has been appointed vice president for campus planning and facilities at Dartmouth.

A leader in higher education operations management, Hogarty brings more than two decades of executive experience to her new role at Dartmouth. In addition to her work in higher education, Hogarty has worked in health care operations, hospitality administration, and events management. She will report directly to Rick Mills, Dartmouth’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. Hogarty will begin work at Dartmouth at the end of March.

Hogarty managed Harvard's real estate holdings from 2010 to earlier this year, overseeing facilities operations, planning, design and construction for the residential and commercial real estate portfolio. Her broader university operational responsibilities have included sustainability, environmental health and safety, emergency management, dining services, and transportation operations. In addition, she oversaw global support services, the Harvard Faculty Club, and university event management.

At Dartmouth, Hogarty will be responsible for stewardship of the College's physical facilities and land holdings, which include 6.5 million square feet of buildings and 35,000 acres of land statewide. She will play a major role in supporting Dartmouth's teaching, research, and student life activities through the implementation of a comprehensive and strategic approach to developing, enhancing, and sustaining the physical plant, which she will develop in collaboration with academic and administrative leaders across the institution, says Mills.
Hogarty will oversee development and management of the College capital program, facilities planning, engineering and design, parking and transportation management, labor relations and negotiations, sustainability leadership, and operations and management of the Hanover Inn. Managers from Facilities Operations and Management, Campus Planning and Facilities, Asset Management and Real Estate, Campus Design, and Project Management will report to Hogarty.
Her appointment follows a national search facilitated by the executive search firm SpencerStuart. Hogarty follows William Anderson Jr., who served as interim vice president for campus planning and facilities.
Members of the advisory committee overseeing the search process were Gail Dahlstrom, vice president for facilities at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; Chris Levey, director and associate professor of engineering and adjunct professor of physics at Thayer School of Engineering; Steve Lubrano, assistant dean of administration and chief operating officer at the Tuck School of Business; Charlie Mannix, associate dean and chief operating officer at the Geisel School of Medicine; David Newlove, executive director of dining services and dean of the college facilities; Adrian Randolph, associate dean for Arts and Humanities, a professor of art history, and the Leon E. Williams Professor in Art; and Martha Austin, associate vice provost for government relations.
Prior to her work in higher education and health care management, Hogarty coordinated an $86 million renovation of The Pierre in New York City, a Four Seasons Resort hotel. After graduating from Colby-Sawyer College in New London with a bachelor's of fine arts, Hogarty worked as a stage manager for a number of Broadway shows, including Whoopi Goldberg on Broadway and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Hogarty also holds a master's of science degree in hospitality and tourism from New York University.
She and her wife, Rosemary Keane, own a house in North Sutton, N.H. "We are thrilled to be able to live in North Sutton year-round and participate fully in all the Upper Valley has to offer," Hogarty says.
