Why Cameron Didn’t Apologize to India (The Diplomat)

The DiplomatDartmouth’s Jennifer Lind co-authored an opinion piece in The Diplomat that applauds British Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to the shrine in Amritsar, India, that honors the victims of a 1919 British military massacre.

Lind, an associate professor of government and author of the 2008 book Sorry States: Apologies in International Politics, and her co-author point out that, despite detractors’ claims that an apology would have been more effective, Cameron’s actions were in fact a “better model for countries struggling to move their relations forward.”
