Dartmouth President-Elect Says He’ll Focus on Student Life Issues (VPR)
January 10, 2013
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead the College,” President-Elect Philip J. Hanlon ’77 tells VPR. Hanlon, who will take office as Dartmouth’s 18th president on June 10, will be on campus January 11 for a welcome celebration.
Among the topics Hanlon discusses with VPR are accessibility to higher education and student welfare. “I think it’s important for any institution of higher education to be focused on affordability these days,” says Hanlon. “Higher education is a very costly venture for many families and we want it to be an opportunity for every family, regardless of family income. And so absolutely, we’ll be looking at ways to allow access and affordability at Dartmouth.”
