Weather Advisory: Hurricane Irene
August 26, 2011
To the Dartmouth community,
As you know, Hurricane Irene is making its way up the eastern coast of the United States. The current modeling projects that Irene will arrive in the Upper Valley on Saturday night with the possibility of tropical storm force wind and rain through Sunday.
Heavy rain and wind up to 70 mph could result in localized flooding, power outages, downed trees and power lines, and the possibility of flying debris.
We encourage everyone to remain indoors during the storm and to make the necessary preparations for the possibility of prolonged power outages and an extended stay inside. We suggest you have first aid supplies, flashlights, and enough food and water on hand to weather the storm.
For further guidance on precautions to take, please consult the FEMA website.
Storm updates will be published on the Dartmouth homepage as warranted. In the event the campus loses power, please call (603) 646-8602 for updates.
