Hurricane Irene Update-August 28 1:45 pm
August 28, 2011
The powerful remnants of Hurricane Irene are currently north of New York City and expected to make their way up the Connecticut River. Hanover will begin to feel the worst of the storm by 3 p.m. this afternoon which will continue through the early morning hours on Monday. The storm will bring winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Up to 8 inches of rain are expected. We anticipate downed trees and power lines and the possibility of prolonged power outages.
At this time Dartmouth plans to be open Monday. We have back up power should it be necessary and are prepared to continue daily operations. If there is a change in status, an announcement will be placed on the Human Resources weather line at 1 (888) 566-7669.
As previously announced, there will be no 8 a.m. exam Monday, but later exams will happen as scheduled.
It is imperative that for the duration of the storm people exercise good judgment and remain inside as much as possible.
