Broadcast journalist Charlie Rose will moderate the Republican presidential debate to take place at Dartmouth College on October 11, 2011.
The debate will be the first of the 2012 presidential campaign devoted to the single subject of the U.S. economy. Three years after the most severe economic downturn since the Great Depression, the candidates will debate the most important aspects of the U.S. economy, including federal spending, Social Security, health care reform, taxes, and jobs.
Dartmouth’s co-sponsors for the debate are Bloomberg News, The Washington Post, and WBIN-TV, the Derry, N.H.–based television station which will broadcast the debate statewide. Bloomberg Television will broadcast the debate globally; it will be streamed live on washingtonpostlive.com, which has 16 million users. Bloomberg News and The Washington Post have a syndication partnership that distributes stories to almost 500 newspapers worldwide.
Charlie Rose is executive editor and anchor of Charlie Rose, the hour-long interview program that engages in one-on-one in-depth conversation and round table discussions about important issues and ideas. Charlie Rose appears nightly on PBS and also in prime time on Bloomberg Television in the United States and 100 countries around the world. Rose is also a contributing correspondent to the CBS News program 60 Minutes.
Rose is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission. He was honored with membership in the Legion d’Honneur of France in 2010.
A Bloomberg News reporter and a Washington Post reporter will join Rose in questioning the candidates.
